Stacey was the visionary founder of Steelyard's predecessor TODL, the Trade Only Design Library. Founded in 1997, while the Internet was still in its infancy, Stacey envisioned using web technology to solve the daunting problem she faced in researching and specifying products for major design and construction projects.
Leading the industry in online product research and specification since its launch, Stacey partnered with Shawn Hughes in 2014 to transform TODL from a desktop product library into the designer
project platform and industry customer service portal it is today.
While no longer involved in the day to day operations, Stacey continues to foster relationships with
interior designers and industry partners to advance Steelyard’s mission of assisting the design
community with their discovery and recommendation of new products for their clients.
Prior to founding Steelyard, Stacey worked as a design administrator at Kras Construction & Design
for six years; where she managed multiple design/planning teams for variety of projects including residential, commercial offices and several boutique hospitality projects. According to Stacey,
“During my time at Kras, I experienced first-hand how profits could be lost due to inefficient design specification processes in a severely fragmented industry. I created this platform to solve that issue
and to bring creativity to new levels using technology.”

Her journey in the home furnishings industry began at Furnitureland South, the World’s Largest Home Furnishings Showplace, more than a dozen years ago where she was involved in all things marketing including public relations, blogging, and endless copywriting. She eventually lead the way as they pioneered the use of Social Media for home furnishings retailers, being asked to speak at High Point Market about the use of social media in the industry. As the use of social media for brands began to increase, she found she had a knack for building meaningful relationships online, while adding a touch of sparkle to the brand message.

Jane is our out-of- the-box thinker and doer with an eclectic style sense and quirky (in a very good way) mind who predominantly directs her creative energy toward storytelling for the design industry. Her experience includes writing and producing featured for magazines, newspapers, blogs, and websites; photo-styling for catalogs and magazines; merchandising, marketing and communications, teaching and sales.
Style voyeur and trade show junkie, Jane Dagmi has been whirling about in the interior design world for 25 years. While she thought fashion was her destiny, a latent obsession with interior space was sparked when she moved into her first tiny and very quirky East Village apartment. The liberal arts grad beelined to Parsons where she earned an AAS while working in public relations. Upon graduating, she sold furniture on Madison Avenue until she got the call from Hearst that would change her life, accepting an editorial assistant position at Country Living Magazine.
She rose swiftly through the ranks, writing and producing photo shoots around the country and serving as editorial liaison for the Country Living brand. From there she bylined blogs and stories for various clients before jumping in the tech-meets-design world. Now at her second post in this ever-evolving milieu, Jane oversees Steelyard’s messaging and content, contributes to the overall creative strategy, and has her radar finely tuned to the amazing design community that consistently inspires her.
